The kids activities are part of The Garden of Possibilities which we've designed to offer a world of exploration, creativity, playfulness and connection with nature.

The Garden of Possibilities has a weekend full of programming to keep younger adventure-seekers and their parents (we call them ex-children) entertained, engaged, stimulated and inspired. Expect everything from yoga and dancing, through to crafts and painting. And of course, it wouldn't be Love Trails without the odd bit of running...

Dave Entwistle is a youth worker and DJ hailing from Edinburgh who loves to run when his knees aren't hurting and is currently setting up Scotland's first Goodgym.

A regular at Lovetrails since 2019 DJ Softplay brings the party to the kids tent where you can expect a fun packed experience, with big tunes, games, big moves and plenty of bubbles. This year we are adding a Ceilidh session for any kids wanting to bounce around and learn some Scottish dance moves.

Dr Mickey James is the founder of Girls To The Front and a children’s health and wellbeing researcher, specialising in play, physical activity, and co-production. She is committed to ensuring young people are active voices, not just participants, in research and communities. Through Girls To The Front, Mickey creates spaces for girls to move, create, and express themselves, blending functional fitness, zine-making, and creative workshops to foster autonomy and self-expression. Across research, coaching, and community projects, she advocates for inclusive, empowering spaces and values young people’s perspectives. Outside work, she enjoys exploring the Gower trails with her dog, Dags.

Neil Frankel is the founder of The Movement Project, a Level 2 MovNat trainer, tennis coach, and accidental ultramarathon runner with a background in Human Biology. He has taught thousands of kids the FUNdamentals of movement, always emphasizing fun. His playful, curiosity-driven approach develops athleticism while exploring physical puzzles for young minds and bodies, helping build the tools for a lifetime of movement. Neil freely admits he’s basically a kid in an adult’s body and loves passing on his stoke for goofing around. When not teaching, he can be found bouldering or enjoying deep roast peanut butter.

Owen is a movement coach passionate about meeting people, kids or ex-kids, exactly where they are. He founded the Anti Gym Gym Club to break down barriers created by conventional fitness approaches, centering his coaching on play and drawing on his experience in strength and conditioning, running, gymnastics, and physical literacy to design fun, challenging sessions. His goal is to make movement enjoyable and meaningful, helping young people build skills and confidence that enhance their lives, making everyone feel like the most important person in the room. In short, Owen embodies the Love Trails philosophy in every cell.

Paula Brown is a teacher, playworker, play therapist, educational writer, and children’s storyteller. She has shared stories in schools, theatres, festivals, hospitals, parties, parks, beaches, and even up a tree. Former co-Director of the Bristol Storytelling Festival and founder of Bristol Story Café, she has spoken on BBC Radio Bristol about storytelling and early oracy. Paula’s warm, engaging style uses sounds, moods, actions, and classic tales to captivate children. Inspired by her grandmother’s storytelling and piano playing, she draws on Brer Rabbit and traditional folk tales, making them a central part of her storytelling practice.
